Iron deficiency / Anemia:
Common, underestimated — but highly treatable
Iron deficiency is one of the most common causes of anemia — yet it is often not taken seriously enough. Iron is essential for life: it is required for the production of red blood cells and for oxygen transport in the body. A deficiency can cause numerous symptoms and significantly impair quality of life. Anemias can have many causes — ranging from minor blood loss to serious underlying conditions. The good news: with targeted diagnosis and sustainable therapy, iron deficiency and other forms of anemia can be treated very successfully in most cases.

What are the most common causes?
What are the most common causes?
Iron deficiency most commonly develops due to:
- Blood loss (z. B. starke Regelblutungen, Magen-Darm-Blutungen, nach Operationen)
- Unbalanced nutrition or impaired iron absorption
- Chronic inflammatory diseases
- Cancer or cancer therapies
- Pregnancy (increased iron requirement)
In some cases, iron deficiency can even be an early symptom of an underlying condition that has not yet been diagnosed — which is why careful evaluation is particularly important.

Typical symptoms of iron deficiency
Many patients come to me with non-specific complaints such as:
- Fatigue, exhaustion, shortness of breath
- Difficulty concentrating, inner restlessness
- Paleness, brittle nails, hair loss
- Irritability or reduced performance
These symptoms can also have other causes — which makes thorough and well-founded diagnostics all the more important.
Careful diagnostics instead of quick conclusions
Careful diagnostics instead of quick conclusions
I take the time for a thorough medical history — including your family history. We review both previous and current blood test results together. For detailed diagnostics, I arrange targeted blood tests — exclusively in specialized hematology laboratories. In this way, we can reliably avoid so-called pre-analytical errors, such as those caused by inappropriate laboratory conditions.

My treatment approach:
Sustainable and individualized**
I do not treat iron deficiency alone — I consistently look for the underlying cause. Because only when we understand the cause can therapy be designed in a meaningful and lasting way. My goal is to stabilize iron stores over the long term — in most cases, this can be achieved successfully with well-tolerated oral iron supplements. Only in exceptional cases, such as intolerance or severe deficiency, are infusions necessary.
Routine iron infusions are rarely required. That is why I rely on gentle, safe, and effective treatment options that you can actively and confidently participate in.

My promise to you:
Many of my patients feel relieved to have finally found a lasting solution to their symptoms — without having to undergo regular infusions. Athletes in particular, as well as people with high professional demands, tell me that with well-adjusted iron therapy they feel significantly more capable, better rested, and more stable in their daily lives.
I support you personally, individually, and with extensive experience — so that your body can regain energy and vitality and thrive again.
