Holistic care with TCM

Conventional medicine and TCM:
Two approaches, one goal: your health

In my work, I combine Western conventional medicine with the methods and conceptual frameworks of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I am convinced that this combination offers patients a particularly comprehensive and in-depth approach to their health. While conventional medicine is primarily based on measurable findings and clearly defined disease entities, TCM views the person as a whole — embedded in their environment, lifestyle, and emotional experience. This perspective meaningfully complements my work in internal medicine and haematology.

How I integrate TCM into my practice

In every patient consultation, I consider both perspectives simultaneously. Often, already during the initial consultation, I decide whether a conventional medical approach, a TCM-oriented approach, or a combination of both makes the most sense. This decision is never made according to a fixed scheme, but individually and based on extensive experience.

As part of a holistic treatment plan, I may use or recommend the following TCM methods:

  • Acupuncture to stabilise the flow of energy (Qi), promote relaxation, reduce pain, or address inner restlessness
  • Chinese herbal therapy, individually tailored to your constitution
  • TCM-based nutritional counselling , to specifically strengthen your organ systems
  • Tongue and pulse diagnosis as complementary diagnostic methods
  • Tuina massage or Qi Gong – depending on symptoms and individual possibilities

When is TCM particularly helpful?

When is TCM particularly helpful?

TCM is especially well suited for the treatment of functional complaints — that is, symptoms for which conventional medicine cannot identify a clear cause. These include, among others:

  • chronic fatigue
  • sleep disorders
  • digestive complaints
  • menstrual or menopausal symptoms
  • inner restlessness, nervousness
  • respiratory conditions
  • pain syndromes, for example affecting the musculoskeletal system
  • and many more …

(In principle, you are welcome to ask me about any symptom to discuss whether TCM might also be a useful option.)

I also use TCM regularly as supportive care during cancer treatment or to stabilise the body after infections.

What is special about my approach?

I have both many years of university-based training in Internal Medicine, Haematology, and Oncology, as well as a completed Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This combination is rare in Austria — and allows me to assess very precisely which form of medicine is appropriate, when, and in what way.

I do not replace necessary conventional medical therapies — but I complement them where it benefits the person, alleviates symptoms, or supports healing processes.
